Review: Moen Arbor MotionSense Touchless Pull-down Kitchen Faucet

Table could not be displayed.

A good kitchen faucet should be sized well for the sink, durable for any home environment, and given a quality that is commercial-like. It should also have modern features that make life easier for those who use the faucet every day. That’s exactly what you’ll find the first time you use the Moen Arbor MotionSense Touchless Pull-down kitchen faucet.

Coming in three distinct finishes, what makes this kitchen faucet stand out from the rest of the pack is its outstanding features. Here is what to expect with this specific faucet model.

  • Fingerprints and water spots are minimal thanks to the Spot Resist finish that Moen has given this faucet. When they do appear, all it takes is a simple wipe down of the fixture to make it look great again.
  • A quick-connect system for the spray head using DuraLock technologies ensures that the pull-down feature snaps right back into the fixture foundation without a hassle. You don’t need to worry about over-extending the faucet or having it snap back on you if it slips out of your hands either.
  • The MotionSense technology allows users to activate the faucet by making a hand movement over a top or front-mounted sensor. It delivers a good, consistent hands-free user experience.

This kitchen faucet is designed for a 1-hole sink installation but does come with a deck plate for sinks that need a 3-hole installation.

What We Thought About the Moen Arbor MotionSense

The sensor activation feature is clearly the best feature of this kitchen faucet. If your hands are covered in nasty stuff, you don’t need to touch any handles to turn on the water. Just wave those dirty hands over the sensor and you’ve got the water needed to clean up. You can also activate the faucet just by standing in front of it, which might prove a little annoying for homes with a small kitchen design.

The water flow is consistent with this model. It does not swivel as much as other faucets do, however, because of the sensor packs that have been incorporated into this Moen design. If you need the faucet to swing side to side a full 180 degrees or more, you may not receive full basin coverage.

We did notice a susceptibility with this type of kitchen faucet and hard water in our evaluation of the product. If you live somewhere with hard water, even within a city, it is a good idea to have a filter or water softener before the faucet. Scale build-up within the faucet can trigger leaks pretty quickly.

Our Grade for the Moen Arbor MotionSense

On our 10-point scale, we give this kitchen faucet a solid 8.5 rating. It performs consistently. It offers modern features. It has some fashion-forward thinking, but still retains the traditional elements of a great faucet that homeowners have loved for more than a generation.

The primary concern, in our view, should be the quality of water where the install happens. Maintain good quality water and the Moen Arbor MotionSense Touchless Pull-down kitchen faucet seems like an excellent investment.
